Answer
We recommend placing the chain through the engine with the clutch lever case in place on the engine. In order to slide the chain through, first remove the master key and link from the chain to cause a division in the chain.
Place one end of the chain on the engine sprocket. Press the clutch lever towards and into the engine to disengage the clutch. If this is the first time that the engine sprocket is being rotated, the grease within the sprocket may be thick and stiff. You may need the help of another person to push the sprocket in an anticlockwise motion with the chain while the clutch lever is pressed in towards the engine. Once you're able to move the sprocket loose, you should then be able to feed the chain through the case. In case it gets stuck while in the case, pull the chain back out, and slowly feed it into the engine once again. It may get stuck if the chain is fed too loosely where it then gets caught in the top left hand corner of the clutch case.
Another option would be to remove the spark plug from the top of the engine. Then remove the clutch cover as well. You can then turn the sprocket a little easier with a ratchet and you should then be able to see the chain feeding through and prevent it from catching the corner.
